December has been a busy month and I haven’t gotten a chance to blog much. So I’ll update you with the most important piece of news:
Two days ago, I registered for my second marathon!
I’ve been thinking about doing a spring marathon for a while now, and it was a close decision between the Vermont City Marathon and the Ottawa Marathon, both on May 29th. I eventually settled on Ottawa since the prospect of running a marathon in another country (even if it’s only Canada) is exciting! Although late May has the potential of being very hot, I like that it’s on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, which gives me more time to explore the city and recover before going back to work.
Facebook reminded me yesterday that I registered for the NYC Marathon on December 26th, 2013, so I decided that December 26th was the perfect day to pull the trigger and register for the Ottawa Marathon. Now it’s official!

Although I didn’t run a marathon in 2015, my year was still filled with races and quite a few PRs. Here are some of the highlights!
- 800+ miles of running (probably 850 by December 31st)
- 13 races
- 7 new PRs
- Meeting 2 Olympic running superstars
- Running in 3 countries

Being reunited with my favorite running path along the sea in Catania, Sicily, where I lived in 2011-2012

Ringing the PR Bell at the Bridgehampton Half in May
Setting a new 5K PR and getting 2nd place in my age group at the PPTC Summer Series 5K

It’s been an exciting year! I was very happy to not run a marathon this year, but I’m looking forward to training for one again in 2016 and seeing what I’m capable of.
So far, my first race of 2016 will be the NYC Half on March 20th – but I might squeeze one in before that if the weather continues to be this nice!
